Beginner Guide
New to O2 the Forest? Here is what to do on your first day, how to survive the night, and how to play together.
Your first day
- Gather and craft. Collect materials, hunt, and craft at the workbench.
- Build your camp. Set up a camp and territory of your own.
- Keep the campfire lit. The area around your campfire is a safe zone while the fire burns. It burns down, so feed it fuel. The campfire is fixed in your camp; you don’t build it.
- Look for the merchant. At night a merchant shows up near the campfire.
- Count your days. There is a day/night cycle, and the HUD tracks how many days you have survived.
Surviving the night
- By default, every fourth night a monster wave rushes the campfire. Plan to be at camp when it comes.
- Arm yourself. Melee options include the axe, katana, machete, mace and spear; ranged options include the revolver, rifle, shotgun, crossbow and shuriken.
- Bring a flashlight. Monsters react to light.
- The NightWatch rifle has a light and runs on a battery.
- Out in the world you will meet animals (deer, rabbit, wolf, boar, bear), cultist-style “Eye” monsters, and world bosses.
- If you fall, you come back as a ghost, and you can rebirth or be rescued.
Basic controls
- Movement is Gorilla-style: grab and push with your hands to move.
- O2 the Forest is a VR survival adventure made for Meta Quest.
Co-op tips
- Up to 6 players can share a game channel.
- Voice chat is built in. The game is designed around physical co-op, so talk to your team.
- Mix up your armlets. They are class gear on your arms (for example Hunter, Lumberjack, Chef, Gunner and NightWatch), and they level up for passives.
- Keep an eye on your friends. A downed teammate can be rescued.
Make it yours
- Furniture comes from capsules and is placed in your territory. You can trade in the lobby.
- Cosmetics such as masks and outfits are bought at stands.
